Arsenal newboys Willian and Gabriel have hit the ground running on their Premier League debut after impressive displays in the 3-0 rout of Fulham at Craven Cottage.
After impressive displays which have spanned from last season’s FA cup winning, up until their latest Community Shield exploits, Arsenal have started the Premier League in full throttle.
Willian almost saw himself get a goal in the 8th minute but it was Alex Lacazette who trashed in the rebound from Rodak’s save.
Willian who was a constant thorn to the opposition all afternoon then set up fellow newboy and Brazilian Gabriel from a superb corner delivery in the 49th minute.
Willian then provided his second assist of the afternoon when his brilliant cross field pass found Aubameyang in space on the left side of the pitch.
Aubameyang then showed his class and quality to control the ball onto his favorite right foot before curling one beyond Rodak and into the right corner.
The former Chelsea attacking midfielder, Willian, became the first Arsenal player to provide two assists on his Premier League debut since Ray Parlour did so in August 1992 against Liverpool.
Aubameyang himself also became the first Arsenal player to score in back to back Premier League opening games since Pires did so in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
The Arsenal skipper was Arsenal’s highest goal scorer with 31 goals across all competitions last season.
Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Fulham also made it the first time they have won successive Premier League opening day games since the 2007/08 and 2008/09.
Gabriel played the entire 90 minutes while Willian was subbed off after 76 minutes following an impressive debut display which earned him the man of the match award.
