Inter have completed the signing of veteran Chilean Arturo Vidal on a permanent transfer from Barcelona.

The Chile midfielder will join international teammate Alexis Sanchez at Inter and also reunites with coach Antonio Conte.

Arturo Vidal has has made a switch to Inter from Barcelona, for a fee believed to be as little as €1 million.

According to Goal, the 33-year-old has signed a contract worth €6 million (£5.5m/$7m) per year, on his return to Italy after his Juventus exit five years ago.

The deal is set to keep Vidal at Inter till 2022, with an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months included.

Vidal, who has had successful spells across Europe, winning eight consecutive league titles across three different leagues between 2011 and 2019, previously played under Conte’s guidance at Juve.

The 33-year-old becomes the latest signing, joining the likes of Achraf Hakimi and Aleksandar Kolarov to arrive at the San Siro this summer.

The Milan club has also confirmed permanent deals for Stefano Sensi, Nico Barella and Alexis Sanchez, all of whom were loanees for Inter last season.

Vidal landed in the city on Monday to undergo his Inter medical and complete the formal requirements of the transfer.

Conte and the Nerazzurri believe the signing of Vidal will help boost their chances of wrestling the Scudetto from Juve’s grasp in and shattering their rival’s hope of a tenth consecutive league title.

Vidal himself was a memeber of the Juve side that lifted the first of those, having moved to the club from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2011.

He later moved to Bayern Munich in 2015, where he was part of the team that won a domestic double on his debut season and two more Bundesliga titles.

A €20m transfer to Barcelona in 2018 followed that, winning La Liga in 2018/19 to extend his run of consecutive titles to eight.

The run came to end last season, with Real Madrid dethroning Barcelona as Champions, while a humiliating 8-2 defeat by former club, Bayern Munich further compounded a miserable campaign for the club.

On the international stage, Vidal has won the Copa America with Chile on two occasions, in 2015 and 2016.

He was selected twice in the Serie A Team of the Year and was voted Chilean Footballer of the Year in 2016.

Vidal becomes the latest star to leave Camp Nou amid a mass exodus at the club, after Ivan Rakitic, Carles Perez, Arthur and Marc Cucurella.
