Man Utd are set to swap both Alexis Sánchez and Chris Smalling to Serie A giants Inter in exchange for their centre-back Milan Škriniar.
The Slovakian international, Milan Škriniar, who is 25-year-old, joined Inter Milan from Sassuolo in 2017 for almost £30m. Škriniar has been the rock at Inter’s defense since he arrived at the San Siro.
Alexis Sánchez was Škriniar’s teammate this season after joining Inter on loan last summer. Smalling also spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Roma, where he played 37 games across all competitions.

With Manchester United currently rebuilding the squad with the main aim of using quick and vibrant young players, the club are looking to offload the two ageing players, and also strengthen their defense at the same time.
This strategic Man Utd swap deal arose after talks between Roma and Man United over a permanent deal for Smalling broke down this summer, with Man Utd demanding over €25m for Chris Smalling.
It is no news that Manchester United are even more keen to offload Alexis Sànchez due to his very high £450,000 a week salary. However, Alexis Sánchez has stated his desire to see out his lucrative contract which expires in 2022, rather than take a pay cut to join another club, even if it means he will sit on the bench at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has announced his desire not to extend the loan deals for both players any further, as they seek an opportunity to raise funds for other transfer targets by selling them permanently.
