Liverpool are getting ready for a battle to keep hold of star forward Mo Salah after a report has surfaced suggesting Barcelona have set their radar on the Egyptian magician, and that Salah is keen to make the move.
Barcelona are keen to reshuffle their entire squad following a humiliating end to the 2019/20 campaign which saw them mercilessly hammered 8-2 by Bayern Munich, and surrender the league title to Madrid.
Having managed to luckily keep Messi for one more season, Barcelona are now eager to make him happy by building a more energetic squad around the Argentine veteran.
And prominent football agent and close friend of Ronald Koeman, Sjaak Swart, told DAZN that Mo Salah is currently on the wishlist of Koeman.
“I know Koeman wants him – and I know Salah would like to go,” said Sjaak Swart. “I am not going into any more details, but just believe me that I know.”
Swart also represents new Manchester United signing Donny van de Beek, who joined United for £45m from Ajax this summer.
As Barcelona are not equipped with a large transfer war chest this summer, Liverpool will be confident of keeping Mo Salah at Anfield beyond this season.
Barcelona have already been priced out of a deal for former top target Lautaro Martinez, who Inter have slapped an asking fee of £95m upon his head.
Furthermore, Liverpool will definitely have to see more than that figure to even consider selling their best player.
Salah has started the season in fine shape, scoring a decisive hat-trick which helped edge out a formidable Leeds team 4-3 on the opening day of the Premier League.
With the Egyptian captain still having as much as three years left on his current deal, Jurgen Klopp will be feeling no immediate pressure to sell his most prized asset.
However, considering the fact that Salah is now 28 years old, a good deal worth a significant amount of money may be too good to turn down. as Klopp will be able to use it to re-invest in younger players.
It is already understood that Barcelona are in talks with Liverpool over a potential transfer for Georginio Wijnaldum, who is also on the hot list of Ronald Koeman
Nearly every member of the Barcelona first team has been made available for sale by Koeman, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
