Serge Aurier’s brother has been confirmed dead on Monday. The Tottenham Hotspur fullback’s brother was killed in the early hours of Monday morning outside a nightclub in Toulouse.
Christopher Aurier who died aged 26, also came through the Lens academy and had a trial with Brentford back in 2011.
The player was out partying at local establishment Chez Kin’s when he was shot two times in the stomach.
The story was first carried by Le Point and has since been backed up by Footy Area and local outlet La Dépêche du Midi, all of whom have confirmed that Aurier was found with two gunshot wounds to the belly and was rushed to the hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Police swiftly arrived at the scene but the killer was able to escape before the police came. Officials are currently speaking to witnesses to try and reconstruct what exactly happened and a massive manhunt for the killer is ongoing.
Serge Aurier’s brother (Christopher Aurier) was also a footballer. A striker, he however never made it at the highest level after failing a trial with Brentford, before failing another trial with Manchester based non league side Stalybridge Celtic.
More recently, he was contracted to French side Toulouse Rodéo, who currently play in the fifth division of French football.
The news came just a few hours after Serge played the entire 90 minutes of Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Arsenal in the north London derby
Two goals from Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette’s scorching opener to ensure that Jose Mourinho smiled away with another win against Arsenal.
The victory moved Tottenham up to eighth position in the Premier League, two points ahead of Arsenal, and leaves them in with a chance of qualifying for the Europa League.
