Philippe Coutinho may have not yet left Bayern Munich but his number 10 shirt has been given to Bayern Munich’s new signing Leroy Sane.
Leroy Sane’s request to wear the number 10 shirt which belonged to Philippe Coutinho was granted to him, and he is glad to wear the shirt when he plays for Bayern Munich next season.
Bayern sealed the deal for Sane in a deal worth €60million from Manchester City on Friday, with the winger penning a five-year contract on Friday.
Sane who becomes eligible to feature for Bayern in the 2020-21 season will occupy the number 10 jersey worn by Coutinho during his season-long loan from Barca.
However, Bayern Munich have already started to advertise their ‘Sane 10’ jerseys at their shirt merchandise section of their official club store, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “Due to the respect we have for Coutinho, Sane has decided not to use the number 10 at his unveiling today because Coutinho is the current number 10, and he is available to feature in the upcoming DFB-Pokal finals in Berlin, and in the Champions League in August”.
The decision from the Bayern hierarchy have confirmed the rumors that Coutinho is not staying beyond this season, and is due to go back to Barca at the end of his loan. However, the Bayern Chairman has provided positive remarks regarding Coutinho’s stay at the club.
According to Footy Area, the Brazilian international has been linked with a lot of top clubs across Europe, with Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Inter Milan all looking at a possible swoop for the playmaker.
