Premier League Golden Boot contenders 2020/21 season
Jamie Vardy wins the 2019/20 Golden Boot

The Premier League Golden Boot contenders for the upcoming 2020/21 season will be the “next most important thing” on every top strikers’ and fans’ minds after their teams.

Last season saw former England international Jamie Vardy take home the highly coveted Golden Boot award.

Vardy scored 23 goals to see off competitions from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Danny Ings, Mo Salah, and fellow countryman Harry Kane.

Jamie Vardy also became the oldest player (33 years old) to win a Premier League Golden Boot after beating Didier Drogba’s 2009 record (32 years old).

The Premier League Golden Boot contenders for the 2020/21 season features some of the finest marksmen in the English top flight.

With the Premier League set to begin on the 12th of September, 2020, FootyArea™ brings you the Premier League Golden Boot contenders for the 2020/21 season.

We have taken the liberty to bring you the bookies favorites to land the top Premier League individual prize in no particular order.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah

Mo Salah is arguably Jurgen Klopp’s best Liverpool signing. The Egyptian maestro has been an instant hit since he landed on the Liverpool shores.

Salah has won the hearts of the Liverpool faithfuls, winning the best Liverpool player award twice in a row.

The pacy hitman has also become the most marketable Liverpool player since he joined Anfield, selling the most shirts at Liverpool each season.

The Egyptian international also won two back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot awards, before narrowly loosing out on last year’s award to Jamie Vardy.

Mo Salah scored 19 goals last season to finish fourth on the goalscorers charts. However, the player has also been criticized in recent times for his selfishness in front of goal.

Fellow African and teammate, Sadio Mané, also clashed with Salah on the same issue of selfishness in the game against Burnley.

Mané complains after Salah fails to pass the ball

Salah will want to put his torrid 2019/20 season behind him and be one of the strong Premier League Golden Boot 2020/21 contenders.

Marcus Rashford

Dr. Marcus Rashford

I believe it would be disrespectful not to mention that Rashy is now a doctorate degree holder from the University of Manchester.

And for this reason, Dr. Marcus Rashford should be his complete name. Forgive me Rashy for omitting this at first. Thanks Marcus!

The young Englishman has developed into a consistent performer under the current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Dr. Marcus reached a personal best of 20 goals last season, with 17 of those coming in the Premier League.

However, Rashford was sidelined for the most part of the season due to injury. But he was able to miraculously recover in time to fire Ole’s side into the top four.

With a new found hunger and desire to score goals, coupled with a mesmerizing pace, Rashford if he continues consistently and remains fit, should be able to surpass the 17 goals he scored last season.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane

We all know that a fit and strong Harry Kane is almost impossible to stop.

Harry Kane is arguably the best out-and-out center forward in the Premier League. He has everything he needs to make him score goals.

Harry was born to punish teams and score goals. The English striker has already scored 143 Premier League goals in just 210 appearances for Tottenham.

Kane missed a majority of the first half of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign due to injury.

After returning from injury, the England captain helped propel a shaky and uninspiring Tottenham Hotspur team into a Europa League spot.

If Harry Kane can just stay fit for a full season, then it will be very exciting to watch him go head-to-head with another Lethal striker ‘Aubameyang’.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

When you talk of superheroes, what comes to your mind? The strongest, a helper, a fighter, an achiever, and many more.

Aubameyang foots every bill for Arsenal. The Gabon international was seemingly the only shining light for an underperforming Arsenal side last season.

Just where would Arsenal be if not for their captain and talisman? Subtract his 22 Premier League goals last season and Arsenal would have finished 16th. Yes! It’s that serious.

This is a player who singlehandedly gave Arsenal the FA cup, and more recently, delivered his team again in the community shield.

He is a proven goalscorer, banging in goals left, right, and center where ever he has been. It’s just reasonable that his abilities have caught the attention of Barcelona.

Aubameyang is one of my personal favorites to win the Premier League Golden Boot for the 2020/21 season from the list of contenders.

Danny Ings

Danny Ings

Danny Ings finished joint second highest goalscorer alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.

The Englishman was able revitalize what was perceived as a dying career when he joined the Saints last summer.

Danny Ings looked like a shadow of himself while at Liverpool, opting to drop down the Premier League ranks to join a smaller team and make a name for himself.

With Danny Ings currently leading over 1million Fantasy Premier League teams for the upcoming season, it is very obvious people believe in his supreme goal poaching abilities.

The upcoming 2020/21 Premier League season is surely going to be an amazing one for the fans.

Timo Werner

Timo Werner

Chelsea’s new boy, Timo Werner, who was unfortunate enough to compete with a goal thirsty animal, Robert Lewandowski, finished as the second highest goalscorer behind yours truly, Lewandowski.

Werner comes as an upgrade to the already bubbling Chelsea team managed by Frank Lampard.

Werner will want to repay the faith of the Chelsea hierarchy who forked out £54m to secure his services this summer.

The German international is a nightmare for defender. He can easily exploit the smallest amount of space, and he is a very quick player who is also able to find the back of the net consistently.

Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy just keeps on getting better with age. As surprising as it is, the Englishman scores more goals as he gets older.

Vardy fought off fierce competition from Arsenal’s Aubameyang, and Southampton’s Danny Ings, to finish as the top goalscorer with 23 goals last season.

Vardy had set an early lead on the goal charts that still won him the Golden Boot despite a lengthy 10 game goal drought.

With Leicester, Vardy has thrived from the counter attacking tactics of Brendan Rodgers, easily using his pace to get in behind the last defender, and calmly slotting the ball into the net.

Jamie Vardy should still have two more years at the top for Leicester.

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial’s impressive form last season saw him notch 21 goals across all competitions, earning him a recall to the France national team after a two year exile.

Martial is one of the many players under Solskjaer who have developed into consistent performers in the Premier League.

Under Mourinho, Martial was constantly kept on the bench due to his preference for a much bigger and stronger striker in Lukaku.

Martial has however turned his fortunes around since the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter.

Taking up the mantle to lead Ole’s men in attack each week, Martial has improved drastically.

In a recent press conference via Inside United Magazine, Martial was effusive in his praise for his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

My form last season is simply down to the fact that I played many more games consistently, compared to other seasons.

If you look back at my struggles in previous years, I haven’t been able to feature regularly. I would find myself on the bench for a few weeks, and other times, I would be starting. It was difficult.

Now however, I know the manager has trust in me to start me in every game, and I’m willing to give my all in each game to repay that faith.

The young Frenchman would be willing to give his all for his manager next season, and should be man enough to be one of the Premier League Golden Boot contenders for the 2020/21 season.

Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero

Premier League Golden Boot contenders 2020/21 season
Sergio Agüero

Agüero is a proven goalscorer who scores all types of goals.

The Argentine international scored 17 goals and was tied with Jamie Vardy last season before he underwent a knee surgery that kept him out of the remaining half of the campaign.

Aguero is also one of the three active strikers who have over 100 Premier League goals, alongside Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy.

He is also Man City’s all time record goalscorer. His ability speaks volumes for him. He is a very dangerous attacker.

Agüero has been pictured in training recently with the rest of the Manchester City squad, as they hope to usurp Liverpool and win the trophy.

If Agüero stays fit, then he stands a chance to win the Golden Boot next season.

Sadio Mané

Sadio Mané

Sadio Mané was easily the first name on the team sheet for Jurgen Klopp last season.

Mané scored a lot of important goals for The Reds last season, with his goal against Norwich one of such examples.

Sadio shared the 2018 Premier League Golden Boot with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and fellow teammate Mo Salah.

Last season, Sadio Mané scored 18 Premier League goals, thereby cementing his status as on of the hottest Premier League goalscorers.

A very selfless attacker, Mané is willing to do everything for the good of the team.

What is even more impressive about Sadio Mané is his work rate off the ball. Mané uses his strength to charge down the opposition whenever Liverpool loose the ball.

A tireless hardworker, Sadio Mané, would be hungry to score goals to help Liverpool retain the title come 12th September, 2020.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has enjoyed an unbelievable career under Pep Guardiola in recent years.

The England international has refined his game from a winger who only caused headaches to one who is both a nightmare and a goalscorer.

Sterling finished last season as Man City’s highest goalscorer with 18 Premier League goals.

However, Sterling still has a bad habit of blowing away easy goal scoring opportunities, which cost both him and City some vital games, especially in the Champions League.

The Manchester City’s highest paid player will want to forget his horrible miss against Lyon, and fight for the Premier League title, while also setting his sights on the Golden boot.

Raúl Jiménez

Raúl Jiménez

Mexican international, Raúl Jiménez, scored a total of 17 Premier League goals last season.

Jimenéz has been a constant performer for Nuno Espirito Santo over the past two years.

With a possible switch elsewhere still on the cards for Jimenéz, Nuno will be hoping his star forward stays for one more season at the Molineux.

The Mexican forwards ability to bring the rest of the team into play is his best quality.

His all-round abilities especially his hold-up play, passing, creativity, and finishing, stands him out from the rest.

Raúl Jiménez is one of the Premier League Golden Boot contenders for the 2020/21 season.
