Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that his side is still a long way off from becoming Premier League contenders.

Prior to welcoming Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Saturday, United are on a 15 match unbeaten run, and just three points behind Leicester City who are in third place.

Although United hope to be challenging for the title once more, former United captain Gary Neville has warned that they still had a lot of work to do in the transfer window.

Solskjaer has now agreed with his former teammate and said that this transfer window would be a key one for United, who are currently 34 points below newly crowned champions Liverpool.

‘Neville is right in a lot of things he says, and of course we cannot think we are there yet,’ the United manager told Footy Area.

‘If you take a good look at the table, we are nowhere near where we want to be. We have got to improve on our consistency, and improve on many aspects of our game.

‘I do not know how many points we are behind the top two but Gary is correct. There is definitely not going to be any relaxation or thinking that we have made it, because we have got so much to do.

‘We have obviously improved but, yes, we need to make perhaps one, two, or more very strategic signings. It is going to be a busy summer for us, I assure you.’

With six games left this season, United are just two points behind Chelsea in fourth place. As the two battle for a top-four finish.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects the battle to go down to the final match of the season, when United face Leicester City away from home.

‘I expect these last few games to be tough. Other teams are also willing to fight for their places.’ Ole said to Footy Area.

‘There is Chelsea, Wolves, Leicester, and us fighting to be in the Champions League. Therefore, every game from now is very important.’
