Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has tied himself to the Gunners with a new long term contract. This news was confirmed on the clubs official twitter handle after their 4-0 demolition of Norwich City. Arsenal moved quickly to tie down the youngster at the Emirates after other top European clubs started sniffing around for his signature__Footy Area
The 18-year-old, who came through the club’s academy, has made a serious impact during the present season after making his debut in the Europa League in 2018.
Saka has been a stand-out performer this season for Arsenal, playing 33 times thus far in all competitions. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta told the club website that Bukayo is definitely a talented and intelligent young player.
“He has impressed me together with his work ethic and attitude. His ability to burst into, and adapt in the Premier league has paid off. I’m excited to continue working with him in training to develop him further, and for him to also assist us achieve our goals.”
Saka has continued to impress in recent times, after playing primarily as a wing-back in his early days in the Premier league, where he debuted in the 4-1 win over Fulham last season.
The Gunners were currently under increasing pressure to tie him down at the Emirates. Following reported interest from rivals Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
Gunners Technical Director Edu states, “This is often something everyone involved wanted, and we are absolutely delighted that Saka has signed a long term four years contract with us.
“He has obviously made a lot of progress since he first played for the club, and he is one among a variety of young players who have developed through our academy. This is obviously very important for us as we move forward as a club.”
