Players Man Utd should look to sell this summer

Man Utd have stated their desire to make a statement in the transfer market this summer with links to high profile players in recent weeks.

Manchester United are beginning to look like a team capable of playing football again after many years behind their European counterparts.

And with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally starting to put together a team capable of playing attacking football, there are a host of players who do not fit into the clubs agenda anymore.

Manchester United are expected to spend nothing less than £200m in the transfer market this summer, the Red Devils would be looking to raise some extra cash by selling a few of their underperforming players, especially as the club has set Jadon Sancho as the primary transfer target.

5. Chris Smalling

Chris Smalling was a regular mainstay at the heart of the defense under former manager Jose Mourinho. However, he has struggled to hold down a place on the starting line up under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The English defender was shipped out on loan to Roma at the start of the 2019/20 season where he has enjoyed a rejuvenated career with the Roman outfit.

According to 90min, Roma are currently in talks with Man Utd over a permanent deal for Smalling worth about £15m, but United are sticking out for a fee in the region of £20m.

Possible destination: Roma

Estimated Price: £18m – £20m

4. Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira is perhaps one of the worst Brazilian players of all time. Brazilians are known for immense skill, pace, dribbling, intelligence, and more specifically, a “Brazilian flair”, which Andreas lacks in all honesty.

Some pundits even find it amazing that he is a Brazilian. Andreas Pereira had so much promise as a youngster, but instead of the player to get better as he developed, Pereira evidently became worse with each passing year.

It is no longer news that he has been put on the transfer list at Man Utd, with “a sell at any price” order on his head.

Manchester United should be willing to cut their losses on the “counterfeit Brazilian”, and sell him to raise the much needed cash they need to land other future targets.

Possible destination: No interested clubs yet

Estimated Price: £5m

3. Diogo Dalot

The Portuguese international has failed to hold down a regular starting place since he joined Manchester United in 2018. This season, Dalot only managed to make a total of 10 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.

The former FC Porto right back has been plagued with numerous injuries during his two seasons with Man Utd. However, there is no doubt concerning the immense skill he possesses, especially with his ability to play on the two flanks.

Dalot could still go on to have an illustrious career if he manages to remain fit and consistent.

Possible destination: PSG, FC Barcelona

Estimated Price: £25m

2. Jesse Lingard

According to the prominent Mark Critchley who writes for The Independent, “Jesse Lingard must leave Manchester United in order to return to his best”.

Fans, reporters and pundits have all been highly critical of Lingard’s performances over the past two seasons, with some claiming he is the worst player to ever wear the Manchester United shirt.

Lingard has played over 200 games for Manchester United with absolutely nothing to show for it. His poor form alone this season was not the only thing that angered fans, this, coupled with his excessive use of social media angered United fans into questioning his priorities.

Jesse Lingard just has to leave the club to see if he can still salvage his career. And at the rope age of 27, Lingard should be a player in his prime years, who should be giving the team that added advantage of years of training and match experience, but the Englishman has failed woefully.

Amid reports that former boss David Moyes wants him at West Ham, Man Utd may just be glad to recover some money for the academy graduate this summer.

Possible destination: West Ham, Everton

Estimated Price: £20m

1. Phil Jones

Only the mention of Phil Jones irritates the ears of the Manchester United faithfuls. The England international seems to have an infinite store of poor performances.

There is nothing Jones seems to do that ever turns out well on the pitch. He makes a lot of errors in one game alone than Van Dijk has done in his entire career. He is simply terrible!

Ole even went ahead to confirm earlier this season that Jones had no future at Old Trafford, slamming the player for his lack of passion when he wears the shirt. Jones is the number one name on the Man Utd transfer list this summer.

Possible destination: West Ham

Estimated Price: £10m
