Real Madrid were crowned Champions of La Liga last night after a 2-1 win against Villareal secured the title for them.
Real Madrid were two points adrift off Barcelona in first place before the league restart.
Two goals from Benzema gave the the much needed three points they required to lift the trophy, even with one more game left.
Footy Area’s reporter Igben Akpevwe was on ground in Madrid to bring us these beautiful photos as Madrid lifted the title in their training ground for the first time in their history.
See photos below:
This will be the first La Liga title since 2015 for Real Madrid, and only their third since 2008. La Liga has been dominated since the turn of the millennium by Barcelona who lost out on this seasons award due to poor form, and a defeat away to Osasuna yesterday.
Zinidine Zidane still shows the world what sort of a splendid manager he is. Having already won quite an impressive number of trophies in just a short time of being a coach.
Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been very instrumental in winning this title for his team. The revered center back has scored a total of 5 important goals since the La Liga restart to hand them the title.
Another notable name is Karim Benzema. The striker is arguably enjoying the best season of his career at the moment. His scintillating form has made it possible for Madrid to lift this title. The forward has scored A total of 21 goals and provided a further 8 assists in the La Liga this season.
The players threw caution to the wind concerning the Corona Virus distancing regulations as they hugged and threw each other about during the celebration.
