Ryan Fraser has signed a five-year deal with the Magpies

Ryan Fraser has completed a move to Newcastle after leaving Bournemouth as a free agent.

The 26-year old has penned down a five-year contract with Newcastle and will link up with his former Cherries team-mate Callum Wilson at St James’ Park after the England attacker competed his £20m move on the same day.

The Scotland international Fraser became a free agent after leaving Bournemouth at the end of his deal and it is reported that he turned down an approach from Crystal Palace to move to Steve Bruce’s side instead.

Ryan Fraser spent seven years with the Cherries making 208 appearances in that time. He became a key player for Eddie Howe’s side being an integral part of their climb from the League One to the Premier League in the space of just two-and-a-half years.

Fraser will join former Bournemouth attacker Callum Wilson at Newcastle after the attacker joined the Magpies earlier in the day.

Wilson is believed to have been heavily linked to Aston Villa, but opted for a move to Newcastle.

Newcastle are also set add reinforcements to their defence after the club had a £13.5m offer for the Norwich defender Jamal Lewis accepted. The left-back was previously linked to Liverpool, but the Champions instead turned to Olympiakos’s Kostas Tsimikas.

The Magpies are also keen to add Arsenal centre-back Rob Holding to their ranks on a season-long loan.

The Magpies will hope to challenge for the higher places in the upcoming Premier League campaign after finishing in 13th place last season.

Steve Bruce’s side will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to West Ham on 12 September.
