Official: Roma complete Pedro signing

Roma have confirmed the signing of Pedro on a three-year contract after his departure from Chelsea.

The former Barcelona winger left the Blues for the Italian side after his contract at the Stamford Bridge expired at the end of last season.

It was reported by Goal in June that Pedro was closing in on an agreement with Roma having rejected advances from Real Betis, Vissel Kobe and Inter Miami.

Pedro departs Chelsea after failing to agree fresh terms for his contract and becomes Roma’s first signing ahead of the new campaign which will commence on September 19.

The Spanish winger moves to Italy following a successful spell during his stay at Chelsea, as well as Barcelona and Spain.

A product of the famed La Masia youth academy, he was part of a two-time treble winning side with Barcelona – scoring in the 2011 Champions League final under Pep Guardiola before serving as back-up to the famous ‘MSN’ forward line of 2014-15.

Pedro won 65 caps for Spain, scoring 17 times in the process and was also also part of the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 winning squads.

He spent seven years in Chelsea lifting the Premier League title in 2016-17, the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Pedro made a total of 137 appearances, scoring 29 times and setting up a further 16.

In his final match for Chelsea, Pedro sustained a shoulder injury in the closing stages of the club’s FA Cup final’s defeat to London rivals Arsenal. An injury which required surgery, with Pedro confirming the surgery was successful in a post on Instagram.

Earlier this month, Pedro posted an emotional farewell letter to Chelsea on Instagram showing his appreciation for the club and its fans for his successful spell in the Stamford Bridge.
