Manchester United have agreed a new contract extension with Nemanja Matic to extend his stay at the club until 2023.
Nemanja Matic has put pen to paper on a new contract with United that runs until the summer of 2023.
Serbia international Matic had one year left on his previous deal at Old Trafford.
But the club announced on Monday on their official Twitter handle that he has agreed to fresh terms following some impressive displays under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent weeks.
The 31 year old Serbian midfield enforcer joined United from Chelsea in 2017 and has made 114 appearances for the club.
‘I am very pleased to continue being a part of this huge club,’ Matic said in a statement.
‘As a player, I still have a lot to give and achieve in my career. And to do that with Manchester United is a huge honour for me.
‘This is a really exciting team to be in, we have a good balance of youth and experience in the squad and there is a great amount of respect amongst the group.
‘This is a key moment in the season and we are playing well at the moment. We will continue to fight to finish the season on a high and make our amazing fans proud.’
Solskjaer said: ‘I am delighted that Nemanja Matic has signed a new contract, I am convinced his experience, professionalism and leadership will be priceless to this young talented group.
‘We have great strength in midfield and Nemanja’s attributes are a key part of that position. Matic has been here for three seasons now, and understands the values of playing for Manchester United.
‘He remains hugely ambitious and determined to win everything, which will be vital as we look to achieve our aims over the coming seasons.’
