Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Mohamed Salah desires to win the Premier League Golden Boot.
According to Jurgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah is highly motivated to win his third Premier league Golden Boot award this season.
Salah scored twice as Liverpool beat Brighton 3-1 on Wednesday, moving the champions onto 92 points on the table this season.
Mohamed Salah has won the past two Premier League Golden Boot awards, sharing last season’s gong with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Klopp said the prize was again a motivation for the Egyptian star, who has 19 Premier league goals this season, trailing Leicester City striker Vardy (22) and Arsenal star Aubameyang (20).
‘He is a striker, how can it not be a motivation for him? That is very clear, he told a news conference.
‘Over the last two years he won the golden boot, last year he shared the award with Sadio and with Auba. That is always important, it is important for Salah and all these things are normal.
‘In the end you can only score goals if you perform very well and he did just that, so that was really good if you ask me and apart from that it is all fine.
‘If you are too focused on scoring goals, not that they are, but if you are too focused on scoring goals, you do not move enough so that you can be in the right positions, but the goals he scored today were really good and he had a lot of space to move and score the goals. That is nice, he could have scored more, that is true also.’
Salah became just the fourth Liverpool player to be involved with 100 goal in the Premier League, now with 73 goals and 27 assists in just 104 appearances.
He has now scored 94 goals for Liverpool, and alongside Sadio Mane (79) and Firmino (77) the triad have delivered 250 goals for the club.
Klopp said: ‘Two hundred and fifth goals by the way is phenomenal. Imagine where I would be if these boys didn’t play for me.
‘The situation minus 250 goals, where would I be, it unbelievable!!’
