Barcelona complete €60m deal for Pjanic

Barcelona have finalized a deal to sign Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic from Juventus for an initial €60million, in a deal which will see Arthur Melo also swap the Nou Camp for Juventus.

This news comes shortly after the two European agreed to swap deal that would see the two midfielders involved swap in the opposite direction, with Arthur already completing his medicals with the Turin giants last weekend.

Arthur Melo was pictured in training saying his final goodbyes to his teammates this Monday. This deal would see Miralem Pjanic sign a four-year contract with Barcelona, and join up with his new teammates at the close of this season. Footy Area understands that the transfer deal also includes an additional €5m in add-ons.

Barca have already confirmed that Arthur’s transfer fees of a hefty €72m has been agreed with the Italian champions. However, Juventus are yet to reveal the full details of the contract they offered the Brazilian international.

Bosnian international Pjanic has been at Juve since his switch from Roma in 2016. His wealth of experience has been the deciding factor for the Catalan giants to buy him. He is also seven years older than Arthur, and far more experienced in the heart of the midfield.

The player has been a mainstay for Sarri since he took over as manager from Massimiliano Allegri last summer, however, some may believe that he does not fill the ideal holding midfielder role that Sarri demands for.

Miralem Pjanic has won three Serie A titles in the past three seasons with Juventus, scoring a total of 22 goals across 171 matches in all competitions for Juventus.
