Former Barcelona defender and Argentine international Javier Mascerano believes Messi makes any team he is playing for favorites against any opposition.
Javier Mascherano is assured Barca will ease past an extremely good Bayern Munich side when they meet on Friday because they have Messi.
Lionel Messi scored a sublime goal against Napoli to move his team into the quarter final stage against Bayern Munich.
A very scary Bayern Munich team have won all of their last 26 games across all competitions, and they await a very shaky Barcelona side who just lost their title to Real Madrid.
Mascerano was insistent in a press conference that Messi would guide Barca past this excellent Bayern side.
“Bayern are arguably the strongest side in the Champions League, but I still believe Leo and Barcelona will be enough to counter all their threats,” Mascerano said.
“Barca just have to control the game on Friday, and when they are able to do that, the exceptionally good individual players will shine, and that’s when sweet things start to occur.
“Leo Messi just being available for Barca alone, makes them favorites, regardless of whoever they are facing.”
Lionel Messi is set to lead his team to glory alongside Suarez and Griezmann, with Barcelona hunting for a long term replacement for Suarez.
Fellow Argentine international Lautaro Martinez has been earmarked by Barcelona as the core replacement for Luis Suarez.
