Manchester United sailed past Chelsea into the top four as Mason Greenwood struck a delightful brace in a 5-2 victory over a relegation threatened Bournemouth side.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s men climbed above Chelsea ahead of their game against Watford with another win that stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions.
They fell behind early in the game due to Junior Stanislas’ opener, but led at half-time through first half strikes from Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Martial.
Josh King’s second half penalty reduced the deficit, before Mason Greenwood’s second strike was added to by Fernandes’ free-kick as Manchester United marched on into the top four.
The Cherries’ took a shocking 16th-minute lead when Junior Stanislas followed up his initial blocked shot and nutmegged Maguire on the byline before beating David de Gea at his near post.
It was the first time Manchester United had conceded a goal in over 500 minutes in all competitions, but they soon bounced back when Mason Greenwood unleashed in a venomous left footed drive into the top right corner, helping them into the top four.
Six minutes later, Man Utd were ahead. Adam Smith carelessly handled Martial’s downward header, and Rashford smashed the resulting penalty into the bottom right corner of the net.
That put Rashford temporarily ahead of Martial in their personal goals competition, later in the game, the Frenchman also moved onto 20 for the campaign in style, cutting in from the left flank and bending the ball past Ramsdale into the top corner.
De Gea once again made a big blunder at his near post in the first half. The Spaniard has come under criticism in recent times for the high number of unprofessional errors he is making.
King converted a penalty against his old club, after Eric Baily handled the ball in the 18 yard box.
Bruno Fernandes, with two assists in the game already, then added his name on the scoresheet with a wonderful free-kick.
This is also the first time Man Utd have scored 5 goals against an opponent at Old Trafford since 2011.
