Liverpool vs Chelsea 5-3 goal thriller
Lverpool celebrate third goal against Chelsea

Liverpool put five past Chelsea in an entertaining end-of-season affair. The Champions dominated the first half before Chelsea rallied with Pulisic’s second half introduction.

The visitors briefly looked like they could salvage a draw before Oxlade-Chamberlain sealed the win for Liverpool. Chelsea’s quest for Champions league qualifications will go down to the last day.

Roberto Firmino finally ended his Premier league Anfield goal drought as Liverpool saw off a Chelsea side who need a Champions league spot.

Liverpool managed to hold off a Christian Pulisic-inspired comeback as the current Premier league champions added to Chelsea’s Champions league qualifications misery with another defeat in the race for the top 4.

Chelsea seemed to improve later in the second half when Pulisic was brought in, with fans raining insults and abuses on Frank Lampard for an awful team selection which excluded his arguably best player (Pulisic).

Naby Keita’s right-footed scorcher opened the scoring at Anfield, before Firmino put an end to his long wait for his first Anfield goal since March 2019.

The impressive Pulisic helped Chelsea fight back to 4-3, raising hopes of at least leaving Anfield with a draw to enable them finish in the top 4, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain quickly responded to their questions with a fine finish to deny Chelsea any points.

Chelsea need a point against Wolves to qualify for next season’s Champions league. Leicester and Man Utd will play of for the last Champions league spot.

Chelsea head home to prepare for that crucial last game with Wolves, whole also praying that none of the other top 4 aspirants pick up points on the final matchday.
