Real Sociedad have confirmed midfielder Martin Odegaard has been recalled by Real Madrid ahead of the 2020-21 LaLiga season.
Odegaard joined the San Sébastien outfit last year on a two year deal, but the second year had to be ratified this year due to changes in Spanish federation rules allowing only season-long loans.
It was reported by ESPN that the Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane made last minute decisions regarding the Norwegian star in the wake of their Champions league last 16 exit at the hands of Manchester City.
The playmaker’s time in San Sébastien has been a huge success emerging as one of the standout players in the league during their chase for a Champions league spot, albeit, poor form saw them qualify for the Europa League instead.
Odegaard was involved in 10 goals in the league, scoring four and setting up a further six in 31 league appearances in the 2019-20 season
The 21 year old will now have a chance to prove his worth in Real Madrid five years after signing for the club.
However, he will be set to compete for places in the middle of the park with the likes of Midfield maestro Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and an impressive Federico Valverde.
