Fully Funded World Bank Treasury Summer Internship
The Treasury Summer Internship is a junior professional training program designed to develop the skills needed for an exciting and rewarding career in the financial industry. The program aims to attract exceptional university students who have interest in finance to support the World Bank’s development mandate. The internship lays the foundation for a two-year position as a junior analyst in a treasury team immediately after graduation. Each year we issue more than $50 billion in bonds, prudently manage more than $180 billion in assets and process more than $7 trillion in transactions.
Treasury Summer Interns will be based in Washington, DC for ten weeks. Interns receive a personalized onboarding program during their first week before beginning three-week rotations between Treasury teams. During the summer, interns participate in weekly discussions with the program director and attend a career prospects lecture series to hear from various Treasury Department officials, managers and directors. Interns have access to the finance department of nearly 300 employees, including meetings with the vice president and treasurer. the interns present their work in a final project to the entire management team.
A number of 14 people will work across all 14 Treasury teams during summer, with each intern on a different rotation schedule to create 14 unique experiences. Each team has a trainee mentor and coordinator who oversee and support their work. Interns will be responsible for specific individual duties or projects within one of the Treasury departments and, depending on interest and skills, will undertake some or all of the following: Asset Management Prepare daily market reports, mentor portfolio managers to understand asset management best practices and work in the Bloomberg Terminal with asset managers.
