Valencia prodigy Ferran Torres has completed his €27m (£24.5m) transfer to Manchester City from Valencia after the forward met Man City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain in Barcelona on Tuesday
Leroy Sané’s move to Bayern Munich caused Pep Guardiola to search for a replacement, with Man City negotiating a final price of €27m, which is over €18m lower than Valencia’s original valuation, though there are notable future add-ons for the 20-year-old who had a year left on his contract.
Ferran Torres met Txiki Begiristain to conclude the the transfer, after which it was confirmed by Man City on Tuesday midnight that he has signed a five-year contract.
“I’m so delighted to be joining Manchester City,” Torres said. “Every footballer wants to win trophies and be involved in attacking teams, and Man City are one of the most brilliant attacking teams in world football.
“Pep portrays a very fluid, high pressing style, which I love, and he is a coach with a proven record of improving his players. To have him take charge of my development is a dream come true.
“Manchester City have won a lot of trophies in the last decade, and I hope I can contribute in continuing that success.”
