Kevin De Bruyne scoops the EA SPORTS Player of the season after a sensational individual campaign with Manchester City.
The Manchester City midfielder enjoyed a stellar campaign as he took home the Playmaker award with 20 assists, in the process equalling Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record for a single season set in 2002/03.
The Belgian also had his best goal return in a Premier League season scoring 13 goals with two of these strikes nominated for the Budweiser Goal of the Season award eventually won by Son Heung-min for his incredible solo effort against Burnley.
De Bruyne also created the most chances and had the highest goal involvement of any player. He started the season strongly, netting two goals and assisting a further eight in the first seven games.
De Bruyne was in incredibly hot form helping Manchester City to a 2nd placed finish and the Carabao Cup after putting a 2018/19 season plagued with injuries and inconsistencies behind him. He was also a nominee for this award in the 2017/18 season.
De Bruyne is the third Belgium national over the past nine seasons to win the award given to the Premier League’s best performer, following former team-mate and Captain Vincent Kompany in 2011/12 and Chelsea winger and national team-mate Eden Hazard in 2014/15.
He scoops the prize thanks to votes from the public on the EA SPORTS website, combined with those of the 20 club captains and a panel of football experts to decide the winner.
Kevin De Bruyne beat off competition from six other players to win the EA SPORTS Player Of The Season award. The other nominees included Liverpool trio, Trent Alexander-Arnold who won the TAG Heuer Young Player of the Season award, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, Southampton forward Danny Ings, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope and Golden boot winner Jamie Vardy.
