Villarreal duo Santi Cazorla and Bruno Soriano have bid the club goodbye after playing their final match in Villarreal’s 4 nil thrashing of Eibar on Sunday.

Santi Cazorla openly confessed his love for Villarreal after his final match after he said that the club will always be his home.

Besides Cazorla, Villareal’s long time captain Bruno Soriano also played his final match for Villarreal in the final round of the LaLiga fixtures.

Cazorla who turned 35 this year has been an influential part of Villareal’s dressing room since his third spell with the club.

Cazorla was forced to leave England after failing to recover properly from a serious Achilles injury that kept him on the sidelines for 636 days.

And the former Arsenal playmaker bowed out emphatically after providing the assist for the opening goal in the 71st minute.

Cazorla ended the current season with 11 goals and 10 assists to help Villareal finish fifth in LaLiga and qualify for the Europa League.

“I’m forever grateful to Villareal and the amazing fans for opening the doors to me and for all the love they’ve shown to.

“I’ve had a wonderful time, but the time has come to move on to another stage in my career. It’s something I’ve thought about already. I can’t deny that I find it much harder to give a hundred percent to this club and the fans in every match.

“But the way I see it, this is definitely not a goodbye, it’s more of a we’ll meet again because this will always be my home.”

Bruno also bade the club goodbye after over 300 appearances for Villarreal. The 36 year old captain gave an emotional statement after the match.

“I must confess that my body is struggling to perform at the highest level. I am no longer able to play 90 minutes every week. Therefore I have decided to retire and end my career tonight.” Bruno said.

“This club will always take the largest place in my heart. This is where I’ve played all my life, and I am going to come back here every week to cheer the club on, together with the amazing fans that supported me through my career.”
