It came as no surprise to anyone when Polish hit man Robert Lewandowski was named the Bundesliga’s player of the year for the 2019/20 season. Bayern Munich were confirmed league champions for the eighth consecutive time last week in a 3-1 victory over Freiburg, where Lewandowski scored twice in the first half.
The Bayern forward has enjoyed a fruitful season in front of goal. He set an early lead from the start, scoring in the first 11 Bundesliga matches (a league record streak) and he is not tired yet.
An overwhelming 48 goals in 41 appearances this season has set him apart as the best goalscorer in the entire Europe, and the Bundesliga confirmed him as the Bundesliga’s player of the year.
With 33 goals from just 31 games, the Poland striker has set himself apart as the best player in the German league, and he has another personal trophy to show for it.
It will be most unfair to forget the other contenders. With the likes of team mates Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Muller, as well as Leipzig’s Timo Werner, and BVBs increasingly popular Jadon Sancho.
