Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has confirmed that he has penned down a new five-year deal with the club.
Despite speculations and links with a move to Manchester United in the early weeks of the summer, the England international has signed a new long-term deal committing himself to the Villa Park side until the summer of 2025.
Jack Grealish has been with his boyhood club since he was eight-years-old and made his Villa debut at the end of the 2013/14 season.
He stayed with Villa despite going down to the Championship in 2016 and was instrumental in their return to the top-flight last year.
“I am delighted to commit to Villa. It is my club, my home and I am so happy here.
“The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and the way they want to build Aston Villa.
“There are exciting times ahead and I am so glad to be a part of it”, said Grealish in a statement to the club’s official site.
The club will kick off their 2020-21 campaign with a trip to Burton for their Carabao Cup tie on Tuesday before Monday’s Premier League match against Sheffield United.
“We are determined to create a top team around him and are delighted that he is extending his contract and signing a commitment to the club he loves”, CEO Christian Purslow added.
Aston Villa have smashed their club transfer record this month to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford and completed the transfer of Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest.
They are nearing completion of deals for the goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez from Arsenal and the striker Bertrand Traoré from Lyon and are in discussions with Werder Bremen for the winger Milot Rashica.
Aston Villa will kick off their Premier League campaign when they host Sheffield United on Monday.
Villa’s fixture with Manchester City on Match day one was postponed due to the extra rest afforded to City for their run in the Champions League.
