Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made history last night as Arsenal beat a relegation bound Norwich side 4-0. Aubameyang scores his 50th premier league goal in just his 79th appearance for the London club. His goals also helped Arsenal close the gap on Manchester United and Wolves.
Aubameyang opened the scoring by dispossessing Tim Krul, and slotting the ball into the open net. This defeat shattered all hopes for Norwich to stay in the Premier league.
The mercurial Aubameyang the set up his team mate later when he slotted a pass to Granit Xhaka to make it 2-0. He later doubled his tally in the second half when Norwich attacker Josip Drmic gave the ball to him from a throw-in.
Cedric Soares rounded off the scoring with a well taken goal to make it 4-0 on his debut. This much needed win moves Arsenal within six points of Manchester United and Wolves in the battle for a Champions League spot.
Aubameyang could have walked home with the match ball if his first effort had not hit the post. He forced Tim Krul to work hard in the 10th minute but was only denied by the woodwork.
However, their good resistance work was spoiled when Aubameyang stole the ball from Krul as he was trying to clear his lines, and he rolled the ball into an empty net to reach his half-century mark.
Exactly four minutes later, the star set up the second for Xhaka, who rifled in from close range to add more sorrows to Norwich, who are trying to hang on for their lives in the Premier league.
Arsenal’s Emiliano Martinez was not left out of the action either. He pulled off some spectacular saves to deny Norwich’s attacker Kenny McLean’s fro scoring a free-kick.He was needed again immediately a minute after the break to deny Adam Idah.
Aubameyang scores his 50th premier league goal faster than Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, and Manchester City’s current all-time top scorer Aguero.
