Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has suggested a deal for a possible permanent signing of on loan midfielder Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid, suggesting talks with Real Madrid are already ongoing.
Ceballos has endured a difficult start to his season long loan from Real Madrid. Ceballos suffered a muscle injury that ruled him out in November and didn’t see him start another game until February. But since the restart under Arteta, the Spaniard has begun to thrive.
He was impressive again in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Leicester on Tuesday night, earning praise from his manager after the game on Tuesday.
“He’s been wonderful once again,” the Gunners coach said in his press conference, via Footy Area.
“I think him and Granit Xhaka have formed a really good understanding, they give us a lot of balance and a lot of options with the ball to make the right decision in key moments during the game and they are evolving a lot together.
“His game play has improved. He is getting better defensively, with his level of pressing, his number of interceptions, he now enjoys it.
“I am pleased with his performance,” the Arsenal boss added.
And when pressed on the subject of a permanent deal for Dani Ceballos, he replied: “I think it’s a topic that Arsenal need to discuss with Real Madrid on. At the moment, he is performing very well, I am really pleased with him and he is a top talent and still has a lot of things to improve on.”
Teenage starlet Bukayo Saka, who recently just signed a new bumper deal with the Gunners was also instrumental against the Foxes.
The 18 year old was previously used as a makeshift left back between December to March. But since the restart, he has been used in his more natural attacking positions, scoring a goal against Wolves, and providing the assist for Aubameyang against Leicester.
“He is very intelligent in the opponents attacking area, and the closer he gets to the box, the clearer the picture is for him. But I have no doubt about his quality, and I can assure you that he will score a lot of goals.
“He knows how to put the ball into the back of the net with either feet”, Arteta said to Footy Area.
