Antonio Conte set to remain as Inter Head coach

Antonio Conte will continue as Inter head coach, the Serie A club have confirmed.

The 51-year-old has openly expressed his anger with the club’s management on several occasions but is set to remain in charge for a second Serie A season at San Siro.

The former Juventus and Chelsea boss cast doubt on his future at the club in the aftermath of Friday’s Europa League final loss to Sevilla, after his criticism of the club’s board and admitting that he might not be at the club next year.

Antonio Conte enjoyed a successful debut campaign leading Inter Milan to finish a point behind Champions Juventus in second place, reached the Coppa Italia last-four and relished their European run, making it their best season in almost a decade.

Though he experienced success on the field, the Italian manager had off the field issues with the Inter hierarchy in 2019-20, particularly when he directed a scathing attack on the club’s hierarchy following the finish of the Serie A season.

Despite enjoying a level of success on the pitch, the former Chelsea and Juventus manager feuded with Inter hierarchy off the pitch in 2019-20, particularly when he launched a tirade on the club’s directors after the conclusion of the Serie A season.

According to reports, Conte has been unimpressed with certain developments at San Siro, citing leaks to the press and some of the club’s transfer decisions. The Inter boss was unhappy with the signing of Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, given he had wanted Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Under Conte, Eriksen has been a fringe player and has struggled to see the same amount of game time he enjoyed during his time at Tottenham.

In a brief release, Inter said the two sides reached an agreement on Tuesday, with Antonio Conte agreeing to stay on a for a second season in the dugout.
