Aguero to miss Champions league

News reaching Footy Area has confirmed that Manchester City striker Sergio Kün Aguero will miss the Champions league second leg tie against Real Madrid.

Sergio Aguero went under the knife last month to correct a meniscus injury and will not recover in time to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also confirmed that his star striker Sergio Aguero will not recover from his knee injury in time to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Agüero needed a serious surgery for an eventual season-ending injury which he picked up during the first half of Manchester City’s 5 nil win over Burnley in late June, but there was a desperate hope that he might be able to bounce back just in time to face Los Blancos on 7 August.

Well, that hope has been completely ruled out by Pep Guardiola, who said during a pre-match press conference (via Footy Area) that Aguero will not recover in time to push City through to the next round.

Aguero actually saw out the first leg from the bench, where Bernardo Silva started in a kind of false nine role in the 2-1 victory. However, Bernardo struggled to have an impact on the game and it was only after Raheem Sterling replaced him that City really got going.

Gabriel Jesus, who scored the equaliser that day in Madrid, will be the most likely person to start in attack

Manchester City’s aspirations has been boosted by the news that the game will be played at the Etihad Stadium, allowing Guardiola’s team the chance to use their home advantage to fire their way into the quarter-final.
